How it began:
In 2014, D. Michelle Pearson was working with a local non-profit group of volunteers, Friends of the Conrad Weiser Homestead, on a redesign of their website. During this work, Michelle learned the funding for their historic site, the Conrad Weiser Homestead, had been so drastically cut that in 2009, the park was closed to the public.
The “Friends” were now responsible for raising funds every year to help with the upkeep, maintenance and programs or the landmark would be closed to the public. In an effort to help, Michelle began organizing and promoting an art show to take place at the historic landmark. In 2015, Artisans In The Park held it’s first Spring Show at the Conrad Weiser Homestead. The event was such a success for everyone involved, that we decided to make it an annual event that takes place the first Saturday in May every year.
As the Spring Show grew every year, so did the realization that these funding cuts affected many more historic landmarks. After careful consideration, Michelle decided to build a company dedicated to helping to preserve history through art for generations to come. In 2018, Artisans In The Park Organization, Inc. was officially formed.
